How Do I Disable My Anti-Virus Software To Sync My Windows Mobile Device
With ActiveSync?
When attempting to synchronize your Windows Mobile device with your PC and
are experiencing problems, it may be due to Anti-Virus software running in the
background preventing the connection. It is possible to temporarily disable
this software to allow the connection. Below are steps for completing
this process.
- Disconnect the cable from the computer of your Windows Mobile powered
device.
- On the computer, click Start -> Run and type “services.msc”.
- A window will appear labeled “Services”. Expand the window to full screen.
- Click on the column header labeled “Status” twice to have all started
items grouped together.

- Looking at the items that are “Started” check for the
Anti-Virus in question. Select the first one by right clicking on it
and then choose “STOP” as pictured below.

- Repeat this for each service related to any Anti-Virus
software. Normally it tends to carry the name of the software to each
particular service. (Please remember some services may not stop, or
they require being stopped in a certain order. Keep trying until
you get a majority of them stopped.)
- Once all anti-virus software is stopped reconnect
the Windows Mobile powered device and attempt sync.
- If this works please contact your anti-virus or firewall
software manufacturer for further assistance.
- If this does not work please try to sync with another
computer. This will prove if the issue is with your “device” or with
your “PC”. Please contact your manufacturer of the original computer
if the 2nd computer syncs. If your second computer does not sync please
call in for further support.
- To restore your security back to normal just restart your
computer.

| Please remember this is for troubleshooting purposes
only.
We do not recommend removing or completely disabling security software
for a permanent solution.
|
| Please keep in mind if you are using a VPN and
syncing with a Windows Mobile device, your VPN must be disabled.
Even if all security
as been disabled and a VPN on your computer is not activity connected it
will cause problems with your Windows Mobile device. Please completely disable the
VPN software or configure your VPN to disable the firewall within.
