If you have a Parallel ATA (PATA / IDE / ATAPI) Optical Disc Drive, it does not require a driver. Samsung drives are plug and play. Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems find and automatically install the driver (atapi.sys) via auto-detection. For this reason, Samsung does not make a Windows driver.

Samsung does offer some drivers for a few very specific issues, outlined below:

• ASPI Driver - You would install this driver if your ASPI driver has been damaged because of software set-up duplication, or your computer currently has incompatible IDE or SCSI device drivers.
• DOS Device Driver - You would install this driver if your 40X CD-ROM, 4X DVD-ROM, or your 4X CR-RW/Combo drive is not recognized in a DOS environment.
• USB Driver - You would install this driver if you currently have the SE-W164C External optical disc drive and want to use it with a computer running Windows 98.

Contacting the Manufacturer of Your Motherboard or Serial ATA Controller

To get the Serial ATA driver disk, contact the manufacturer of your motherboard or Serial ATA controller. If you don't know what motherboard or Serial ATA controller you have, see the instruction or owners manual for your computer. You can also contact your computer manufacture for support.
